“Goal! Goal! Goal!” – Simone SCHNEIDER c/o ANDREA HEBERGER realized an editorial with a nod to the style of the 50s. Outfit and styling came from Marianna Kurth, and the wonderful story, appearing in SPORTSLIFE magazine, was photographed on the topic of ‘Miracle of Bern’ in Mannheim.
‘The Miracle of Bern’ is the term coined for the victory of the Federal German National Soccer Team over the highly favored team from Hungary at the 1954 Soccer World Cup in Switzerland. The final match, which ended 3:2 for the Federal Republic of Germany, took place on 4 July, 1954, in Bern’s Wankdorf Stadium in front of 60,000 fans. The players led by Captain Fritz Walter and legendary National Coach Sepp Herberger went down in German history as the “Heroes of Bern”.
Winning the title was met with ecstatic celebrations throughout Germany. Nine years after the end of World War II, it raised the self-esteem and strengthened the bond of many West Germans with their still very young nation. Which is why it is often referred to as “ the true birth date of the Federal Republic of Germany”. GoSee : das-wunder-von-bern.de
