Ludi Lin is a Chinese-Canadian actor and former model who became internationally known through roles in major franchise productions. Many audiences know him as Zack Taylor in the Power Rangers reboot, as Murk in Aquaman - and especially as Liu Kang in the new Mortal Kombat II film adaptation.
The new Mortal Kombat II movie is currently showing in the US and significantly expands the world introduced in the 2021 reboot. The film is once again directed by Simon McQuoid. Ludi Lin reprises his role as Liu Kang - one of the most iconic characters in the entire video game franchise. For the film, the actor underwent intense physical training, reportedly gaining around 40 pounds of muscle while combining martial arts training with classic bodybuilding, according to Men’s Health.
Interestingly, Lin also brought his own creative ideas into the role. In interviews, he explained that he wanted to incorporate traditional Chinese elements such as acupuncture into scenes featuring Liu Kang in order to give the character greater cultural depth.
