'We are very proud to announce our new partnership. The illustrator Jeanne Detallante designed a beautiful new contemporary interpretation of an old Persian “Garden of Eden”. The result is simply stunning. A beautiful landscape with exotic plants and animals and an enormous perception of color … We are very moved by the result and carry this collaboration very closely in our hearts. The design circulates in different directions. There is a surface and a depth, a verticality where the patterns of the different elements are built up. It is a poetic yet realistic, daydream-like vision of nature. Nature observed, transformed into a feeling, transformed into a graphic reaction. A nature that is not always so calm, where not everything is harmonious, but sometimes surprisingly fine. A nature that is not always reassuring, but where you can still find peace. During our first meeting we were both very charmed by each other’s work. She had a fascination for carpets / designs and carpet knotting art. And we had an affinity for her illustrations. There was also a mutual trust from the beginning and we got along very well. We connected immediately … I always had a great love for the old Persian Tabriz carpets where the Paradise Garden was often a central theme. We therefore had the idea of creating a “New Garden of Eden” for quite some time. When I met Jeanne and was able to admire her beautiful illustrations and work, I knew she was the right designer to create a new modern interpretation of the Garden of Eden. Carte Blanche, starting from a white sheet… in her own style. A carpet exclusively designed by JEANNE DETALLANTE and produced by Ashtari Carpets.
The design combines two worlds… the traditional Persian themes / motifs and figures are displayed in a very contemporary form and own style. Due to its large dimensions 370 x 270 it also has enormous power. It is a color explosion, a discovery … an experience …'
Jeanne Detallante was born in Paris. Having spent time in New York and Philadelphia, she now lives in Brussels. She is the illustrator of Prada, Vogue, American Express, AMI, Diptyque, Miu Miu, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair … Jeanne has developed a highly personal style over the years. Her colourful, sometimes grotesque images are inspired by myths, fairy tales and fashion. In the style of the 1960s, Jeanne creates busy and fascinating dream worlds. Jeanne loves perfume and dreams of a garden with fountains.
