About - Scottish Widows has been helping people plan their financial futures for almost 200 years. From a meeting in an Edinburgh coffee house in 1812, Scotland’s first mutual life office was born. A group of eminent businessmen set out ‘a plan for establishing in Scotland a general fund for securing provision to widows, sisters and other females, to be called the ‘Scottish Widows’ Fund Life Assurance Society'. In 2000 Scottish Widows was demutualised and became part of the Lloyds TSB Marketing Group. From 2009 it became part of Lloyds Banking Group. scottishwidows.co.uk
