ART ACT presents an extremely innovative, creative, modern and fascinating new entry here on GoSee : A warm welcome to Tape Artist ATAU! Atau lives in Berlin and uses tape to create wonderful artwork, installations, shop window designs and murals which can be seen the world over in galleries, exhibitions and at events. What fascinates him most is to create new spacial experiences using tape artwork while interacting with the characteristics of a given room in order to reshape interior and exterior spaces.

What fascinates you about tape art? “The versatility lies in rethinking. Tape art always challenges you to think abstractly; it gives you fascinating possibilities that painters can only dream of. For example, taping very long lines that are perfectly straight or fine geometric shapes that would be difficult to achieve with a brush. The basics of tape art are easy to learn, and there are not many techniques, yet the possibilities are almost limitless.”

“In my artistic approach, I experiment with the medium tape and question its basic principles : through cuts and omissions, I dissolve straight lines, integrate circular shapes, leave gaps through which the materiality of the surface becomes visible as a further level. Color overlaps and offsets create gradients that, depending on the position of the viewer, decompose the lines when they are seen. I often start off with structures and grids into which I zoom in and out with great detail : urban networks, image elements such as pixels, nervous systems connecting with one another. I often work intuitively and without a template. My artwork and installations are created organically…” Find out more about ATAU at ART ACT.

ART ACT presents a colorful illustrator portfolio from its Swiss new entry FREDINKO – art that’s simply fun and makes you want to participate.

Fredinko is an artist, cartoonist and advertiser who lives and works in Zurich. His pictures are dominated by black outlines and are somewhere between pop art and neocubism. He became known for his live performances, where he adorns large canvases with his peculiar drawings and encourages the audience to paint with him.

He performed for a large audience in his campaign for COCA COLA Switzerland: which dedicated a label to each canton. For the launch of the Fredinko x Coke Summer Edition, he set a record in the hall of the Zurich Hauptbahnhof central railway station: The entire map of Switzerland spanning 360 square meters and consisting of more than 10,000 pieces – all in the Fredinko look.

ART ACT presents new works by Viktoria CICHON here on GoSee : “She creates all sorts of illustrative artwork combined with hand-lettered designs for print, online and animations, but she also paints on large surfaces such as windows or walls. She is inspired by peculiar human behavior, feminist rage and silly things which she transforms into fun characters and taglines…”

Viktoria CICHON c/o ART ACT moved to Berlin in 2014 to work as a freelance illustrator after studying Communication Design in Nuremberg. She started off doing large-format commissioned work with everything from café chalk boards to wall designs with lots of lettering, and traded that for working at a desk after a few years so that she could focus more on illustrating characters and their stories. She draws her inspiration from the big city and the people in it, from personal experiences and political movements. All the while, she strives to depict a diverse variety of life models wrapped up with a pinch of humor.

Further works are available via ART ACT, and on Instagram, Viktoria tells us a lot about her subjects and how they were created.
