Timothy Schaumburg photographed the cover editorial for the third issue of Byredo Magazine, a publication of the luxury brand Byredo. The images were post-produced by the high-end fashion and beauty post-production company ONE HUNDRED BERLIN.
Founded in 2006, Byredo is a Stockholm-based luxury lifestyle label that blends modern aesthetics with emotional memories and is best known for its minimalist, high-quality niche perfumes and artistic cosmetics.
The current issue of the magazine is dedicated to the theme of "Blanche" (French for "white") - a term that represents far more than just a name for Byredo: it is a central concept of the brand, encompassing both an iconic fragrance and a specific emotional aesthetic.
In this issue of Byredo Magazine, "Blanche" is explored as an emotional and psychological space. It represents the 'lucid space' between sleep and wakefulness, or the places we escape to in daydreams. The features in the magazine are intended to reflect this tension between these extremes.
Furthermore, Byredo founder Ben Gorham developed the fragrance "Blanche" based on his personal perception of the color white. The former Swedish professional basketball player, without formal training, revolutionized the perfume world by translating personal memories and emotions into minimalist luxury fragrances.
Born to an Indian mother and a Canadian father, and raised in Sweden, Toronto, and New York, Ben incorporates his wonderful cultural diversity into his creations. And he does so with great success.
In May 2022, the Spanish conglomerate Puig acquired a majority stake in Byredo. The acquisition is intended to strengthen Puig's portfolio of luxury brands, with Byredo founder Ben Gorham remaining a shareholder and Chief Creative Officer.
