The independent art project 'ZAC x BIG NAMES' by photographer and artist Wolfgang Zac deliberately breaks with the classic conventions of luxury and fashion photography. The studio shots feature no handbags, no shoes, and no designer collections. The actual consumer goods are completely omitted.
Only the branded bags and garment bags of major fashion houses are visible in the photographs. These, however, have been repurposed and draped directly on the models' bodies as avant-garde headwear, clothing, or accessories.
According to the artist, this technique shifts the visual perception away from fashion itself and toward the question: How much of our personality do we project onto status symbols? The project explores our deeply ingrained relationship with logos, brand identities, and the associated social status. It demonstrates that even a simple protective package can be enough to evoke luxury and desire in the viewer's mind.
The visually minimalist yet high-contrast series was shot at ZACLAND Studios in Los Angeles. The models were Krystal Dengg, Laurice Budd, Ibrahim G. Sesay, Can Öz, and Filip Kubica.
Wolfgang Zac has been officially represented in Europe as a photographer and director by the agency Severin Wendeler Creative Lab since the end of 2025.
This partnership has resulted in global photographic materials and commercials for renowned clients, including lifestyle and automotive campaigns for corporations such as Erste Bank and Sparkasse, as well as Coca-Cola. In addition to traditional advertising bookings, the collaboration also encompasses independent, experimental fine art projects.
