The Leica Galerie Konstanz presents Body Lab, a new exhibition by Monica Menez. The opening takes place on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 7 pm, in the presence of the artist. On Saturday, April 18, Monica Menez will personally guide visitors through the exhibition (11 am & 1 pm, registration required).
“I’m currently presenting my exhibition Body Lab at the Leica Galerie Konstanz – and I’m truly proud of it. Not only because the Leica Gallery is such a special place, but because I was invited to show both: my analogue photography and my AI-based work. For me, that’s a clear statement. It reflects exactly who I am as an artist – someone who doesn’t separate between mediums, but instead asks: what does this image convey? How is visual impact created? And where can it lead us? Body Lab is the result of this approach.”
Monica Menez is known for a distinctive visual language that brings together fashion, staging and narrative. Her work plays with expectations – marked by subtle shifts, a refined sense of humor and the element of surprise. Rather than surface alone, her images create visual narratives that go beyond the obvious. Precisely composed and clear in intention: nothing is accidental, nothing purely decorative.
Alongside photography, Monica has long been working in film. Her first fashion film Precious (2011) gained international attention, followed by numerous productions in the fields of advertising and fashion film. Her work has been shown worldwide and received multiple awards, including at ASVOFF in Paris, as well as the ADC Award, Canon Photo Award and Kodak Photo Calendar Award. Her work has been published in titles such as Vogue Italia, Harper’s Bazaar and Madame.
Together with Ivonne Veith, she founded Synthetic Styles, a training program for creatives focusing on AI, visual language and new working models. She is also actively engaged in talks and workshops addressing visual culture and the future of creative work. Monica Menez is a member of the ADC and serves on the board of the BFF.
A key current project is 'Specimens of Creativity': a conceptual “museum of extinct professions”, where roles such as “The Photographer” or “The Stylist” appear as exhibited artefacts. In this imagined museum, contemporary creative professions are staged as specimens – offering a precise reflection on the transformation of the creative industry in the age of AI. The accompanying film was nominated for the Lumen Award and received an ADC Award in 2025.
With Body Lab, the Leica Galerie Konstanz presents an artist who not only reflects on visual culture, but actively pushes it forward.
