For the Spring/Summer 2026 campaign of cashmere label LuRen, Dirk Bader photographed a series of images that highlight the collection's exquisite materials and handcrafted details. Created in collaboration with ELLE, the images combine timeless elegance with a modern, minimalist visual language.
Minimalist, clean lines, and relaxed – the looks are staged against a warm color palette and amidst sculptural rock formations. The rough surfaces of the stones contrast with the soft cashmere, drawing attention to the collection's textures, silhouettes, and materiality. The atmosphere of the images reflects LuRen's commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and timeless modernity.
The label was founded in 2013 by designer Katie Ji (Ji Hong). Its headquarters, showroom, and studio are located in Seefeld, Upper Bavaria, near Munich. The name LU REN is derived from Katie's grandmother and roughly translates to "What people have left behind." Katie's grandmother taught her tailoring, knitting, and sewing, instilling in her the philosophy of creating things that will last for generations.
Katie Ji herself grew up in mainland China, where cashmere processing has a millennia-old tradition. This traditional craft continues to shape her timeless designs. The label uses only the finest yarns from Mongolia for its collections. Katie Ji collaborates with renowned suppliers who also supply global luxury brands such as Hermès.
Mongolian cashmere differs biologically from wool from warmer regions. With a diameter of only about 14 to 16.5 microns, the fibers are among the finest in the world. The hairs are also exceptionally long. The advantage: Long threads can be spun more sturdily. The finished garment pills significantly less, is completely itch-free, and retains its shape for years.
