He is a living acting legend, a two-time Oscar winner, and a genius in front of the camera. But Sir Anthony Hopkins possesses another talent: music. The now 88-year-old has played piano since early childhood and composed music since he was a teenager.
With "Life Is a Dream," his first classical album is now being released by Decca Classics, summarizing over six decades of his private compositional work. It is an intimate musical diary that tells of childhood memories in his Welsh homeland, old folk songs, and deep personal dedications to his family.
The cover for the Hollywood star's album was photographed by Charlie Gray. The artwork captures the dreamy, cinematic mood of the album. Photographer Charlie Gray is known for capturing the vulnerable yet powerful aura of great personalities with his camera.
For his passion project, Anthony Hopkins enlisted the absolute best in the world: none other than the world-renowned Maestro Gustavo Dudamel conducts the prestigious London Philharmonia Orchestra. The soloists are pianist Sergio Tiempo and cellist Gregorio Nieto.
The album “Life Is a Dream” will be released on CD and digitally on August 21, 2026. An exclusive 2LP vinyl edition will follow on October 30, 2026. The lead track, “1947 Suite – II. Bracken Road,” is already available as a single.
Charlie Gray is represented by the agency LGA MANAGEMENT, Paris – London – NYC.
