Grayson LAUFFENBURGER c/o HAUSER FOTOGRAFEN photographed actor Sam Riley above the rooftops of Danzig.

Sam Riley is now making a fascinating appearance in the role of homosexual star choreographer John Cranko (1927-1973), who shaped ballet in Germany unlike anyone else – thanks to the impact he made through his groundbreaking work in Stuttgart. John Cranko went to Stuttgart in 1960 for a guest performance at the Stuttgart Ballet and was soon appointed ballet director. With Sam Riley playing the lead role in ‘Cranko’, Director Joachim A. Lang tells the story of John Cranko’s rise from pop star of the ballet world to its very top.

Cranko’s choreographies were instrumental in the emergence of what is celebrated as the ‘Stuttgart Ballet Miracle’. And it all started in 1969 with a guest performance at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Cranko’s gift for nuanced storytelling, his clear dramatic structure and exquisite mastery of the pas de deux won the hearts of New York audiences.

In 1971, he founded a ballet boarding school. Today, the John Cranko School is a ballet school of the Stuttgart State Theater as well as a vocational school and State Ballet Academy.

The film will debut on 20 September 2024 at the Stuttgart State Opera, and the official box office start is on 3 October 2024 across Germany.

For the client OTTER KNIVES, whose production process photographer Martin BÜHLER c/o HAUSER FOTOGRAFEN has already had the pleasure of accompanying with his camera, Martin now got the chance to join OTTER on a hunting trip.

The OTTER company was founded around 1840 in a small wooden cottage, a traditional grinder’s watermill, at Solingen’s Königsmühle. The name comes from the otters that once lived on the riverbanks of the streams and rivers in Germany’s Bergisches Land region of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The pocket knives and knives with fixed blades are manufactured in Solingen using traditional methods. The range is comprised of knives for leisure, the household, gardening, and hunting. Most are equipped with carbon blades, have excellent edge retention, are extremely durable – and are all Made in Germany.

Photographer Grayson LAUFFENBURGER c/o HAUSER FOTOGRAFEN originally comes from San Diego, California. He studied Classical Philology at Rollins College in Florida and lives in Berlin today – where he is pursuing a career as a portrait and commercial photographer, and also likes to photograph personal projects occasionally.

“For those of you who are unaware, @stefan_krykry (aka Stefan Krynauw, friend, artist & model) and I created a masterpiece. Entitled ‘A Day at the Beach’, it is a collection of images created entirely by awkwardly asking complete strangers we found at the beach to help us create a beautiful rendition of a cheesy family-vacation photo album. It was unbelievably uncomfortable to make but some of the most fun I’ve ever had. For your viewing pleasure!” Grayson Lauffenburger, photographer.

“Originally from Southern California and now based in Berlin, he seamlessly blends his West Coast roots with a European influence. Grayson’s love for photography is rivaled only by his passion for burritos. When he’s not taking photos, he enjoys going on culinary adventures, always in pursuit of the perfect combination of rice and beans. Whether you want to create some killer images together or simply want to debate the merits of guacamole as an art form, Grayson is your guy,” HAUSER FOTOGRAFEN tells GoSee.
