“From 1 June 2015 Susanne Nagel will take on a new leadership role at thjnk and will build up an interdisciplinary all-round Art Buying service for the Hamburg agency group.” This was the official statement that made waves in Hamburg and further afield. Susanne Nagel, Head of Jung von Matt /Basis and Head of Art Buying, is, well was, for us a much loved face of the world famous Jung von Matt agency.

Following several contracted and freelance agency positions with Menzel Nolte, Springer & Jacoby, Kolle Rebbe, Lintas, weigertpirouzwolf and TBWA, Susanne has spent an unbelievable fifteen years at Jung von Matt, fourteen of which were spent as Head of Art Buying and four in management. Over the past years she helped shape the visual language of big brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Ligne Roset, Vodafone and Edeka. Susanne Nagel is a member of the LeadAward jury and co-founder of Weitsprung, the union of Art Buyer Teams from Jung von Matt, thjnk, Scholz & Friends and Kolle Rebbe. Their initiative aims to provide young photographers with AB feedback hoping to act as a diving board into the photography market.

Armin Jochum, Ex-Jung von Matt and Creative Director of thjnk: “It is a great achievement for our agency to have won one of the most accomplished experts in the area for thjnk.” Armin isn’t the only JvMer to have turned kt (kemper trautmann) into thjnk. It is also worth mentioning Karen Heumann, Germany’s top creative, whose ‘h’ is directly in second place in thjnk.

Susanne 'Susi' Kastner-Linke has been in charge of Art Buying at thjnk for seven years and seems to be leaving the agency of her own accord so as to pursue a new challenge. Armin Jochum comments: “We thank Susi for her great contribution over all the years and wish her all the best in her future.”

The Deputy Head of Art Buying at Jung von Matt has also moved on - Bianca Winter. Let’s just say this much, she will be freelancing her expertise in Art Buying, Casting and Production.

And if some of our readers are thinking, good heavens, what is going on? Then we would like to answer quite simply with a quote from Hermann Hesse : "A magic dwells in each beginning ...." Isn’t it nice when the cards get reshuffled, as almost impartial observers we have to say we were getting slightly bored of the well-behaved German advertising industry dotted with cemented seating cards. So perhaps we might all benefit from a breath of fresh air in the German advertising fug. See feedback from Eurobest, Cannes and ADC.... as well as account relocations by the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Spiegel, McDonalds, Bild, and many more are demanding greater sophistication when it comes to advertising 'made in Germany'.

And we just put Mr. Beckham in here for you as a reward for your interest in this article as he always looks so cute and serious in his underpants. Sometimes advertising can smell a little funny – but that doesn’t bother us GoSees at all when it comes to great campaigns, super spots (a little plug for our FILM SPECIAL next week) and yummy photos. And now for a little GoSee revelation: good artwork comes from good artists – after all from nothing nothing comes.
