Steven Lyon Studios

Steven Lyon was Born April 10, 1961 in Santa Barbara California. He currently resides in New York and Paris. He spent most of his childhood and adolescent years in Costa Mesa CA. active in sports and beach life. In 1980 his first taste of photography was to be photographed by Andy Warhol in Hollywood for Andy’s Interview magazine. It wasn’t till later He moved to Paris where he had great success as a model living in Paris and working between NY and Paris and Milano for more then a decade.

It wasn’t until 1998 he started shooting images in LA and the California desert. With his long history in Europe he moved to Paris in 1999 drawing his inspiration from cinema and the highly creative French fashion world. Being a strong advocate of traditional photography and shooting primarily on film. His work was soon noted for is strong sensual cinematic quality and film noir inspired black and whites. The editor of Spoon magazine gave him his first break and Steven became a regular shooter for Spoon’s women’s, men’s and beauty issues monthly.

Steven has always been an avid conservationist and traveler both for his work and in pleasure. So with a strong love for Africa and a passion for photographing wild life. In 2013 he founded a non-profit organization called; Lyonheartlove;. Its purpose is to educate people on the ever-present poaching crisis in Africa. Currently he is filming a documentary in Africa called ‘Something That Matters’. Now in NY his focus is on film directing and Fine art photography.
