Nicky Szmala - CEO at picdrop, the go-to solution for photographers and teams to handle image media from shoot to share.
I spent the last 15 years having fun (while learning a ton about marketing, GTM, partnerships, people & management). Here are some highlights from working with teams around the globe while being based in Asia:
✔️Launched one of the first mobile marketing offerings in China while starting my career as a 25-year-old at Ogilvy Beijing. Same company, different achievement: I met my future wife there.
✔️Moved to Singapore as employee #2 of an app and games dev studio. The best part: We released an app for Greenpeace that was featured in Fast Company.
✔️Led the product launches of Lenovo’s AR/VR devices at CES and MWC, partnering with Google, Microsoft, Disney, and Qualcomm.
✔️Expanded the global footprint of a Taiwanese Series B+ SaaS Startup—one of the fastest growing companies in APAC, according to the Financial Times.
It helped me to develop my superpowers:
● Finding solutions and success in (almost) every situation
● Identifying and growing talented people
● Building partnerships with Fortune 500s, startups, and suppliers
● Leading teams across cultures and time zones
picdrop was founded in 2012 by professional photographer Andreas Chudowski and designer Tobias Friese. Unhappy with existing solutions for delivering images to Andreas’ clients they teamed up to create what eventually became picdrop. We are now a team of 20 members (still hiring!) and so far over one billion image and video files have been sent via picdrop by now. Our mission is to make picture transferring, collaboration and editing as easy and fast as possible..
