‘Is Lewandowski transferring to Bayern?’, ‘Will you marry me?’ or just ‘fancy working for G&P?’ – Hamburg agency Grabarz und Partner think important things are best discussed with a beer in hand. Even better: a beer in their company VW camper van.
This is why the agency’s van was parked outside with charming Jane from G&P Recruitment and a couple of G&P Creatives at newcomer day. ‘Newcomers: come and swap your portfolios for a beer! We are looking forward to meeting you just like Lewandowski can’t wait to transfer!’ could be heard coming from the depths of the smart iconic van.
Grabarz & Partners’ guerrilla recruitment: ‘Grabarz & Partner & you & a beer. Let’s swap: your portfolio for a beer’ was a great success – we certainly witnessed it – our taxis passed the busy bus on numerous occasions.
Whilst other agencies presented themselves on the crowded newcomer days, Grabarz & Partner prominently placed themselves in front of the festival location. The agency bus, dating from ’73 and quite the eye catcher itself already, was topped with a retro looking sign (see photos). More than 60 students followed the call to present their portfolios and casually chatted with creatives and HR staff from the agency whilst sipping on beer.
The action was met with greater demand than expected. In addition to students, lecturers, creatives, photographers and a lot of ADC staff also dropped by. The van was a favourite for passers by and the ADC Security team. The latter promised to look after the team and vehicle if they would be asked to move along.
Jane Büring, G&P Recruitment, is more than happy with the result, which can be measured by the countless business cards that were exchanged, the empty beer crate and the slight tan she also managed to bag that day.
Some background information on the agency’s camper van: the agency treated itself to the vehicle two years ago. It was to celebrate its ten year partnership with client Volkswagen. Staff can borrow the van for a long weekend. A G&P team spent three years gutting, restoring and pimping the van. The result is a camper van with all the accessories: from a mobile shower, to gas cooker, iWhatever connections and with Tupperware, a salad washer and spaghetti tongs, it has all you need for a perfect weekend. We’re making a note of this.
