George Atsalakis is the co-founder and owner of the renowned Athens-based architecture firm Scapearchitecture. He is a prominent figure in the modern Greek architecture scene and is known for his seamless integration of nature and architecture.
George Atsalakis studied at the prestigious National Technical University of Athens. Before founding his own studio, he gained extensive experience as a project architect and partner at renowned firms such as ISV Architects and MOB Architects.
Together with Stavroula Christofilopoulou, he runs the studio. The name says it all: The studio doesn't simply create buildings, but rather merges architecture and landscape into a new environment (a new "scape"). The boundaries between interior and exterior spaces, as well as between natural and artificial forms, are deliberately blurred. Their expertise ranges from exclusive interior design and modern office spaces to luxury hotels and high-end private residences.
As a leading thinker in future-oriented building, George Atsalakis regularly appears as an expert: He is a frequent speaker at professional conferences (such as the "Architects Talk" in Athens), where he speaks about the conditions for sustainable coexistence in built environments. He enjoys sharing his experience in interviews and provides targeted advice to young, up-and-coming architects.
