Laura Zalenga is a conceptual portrait-photographer from Germany, after half a decade in Rotterdam, now based near Munich. Having a degree in architecture led to the very clear, minimalistic visual language of her work, which often consists of self-portraits.
A special focus of her imagery is the connection of the protagonists and their surrounding, might that be nature or urban spaces. She gives talks about photography and the special powers of self-portraiture, as well as teaching workshops and courses about conceptualising, creativity and identifying locations. Zalenga is especially passionate about working on concepts and series about important global issues or social taboo topics.
