Frithjof Meinel is Professor Emeritus of Industrial Design at the renowned Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.
He is a member of the board of smart³ e.V., a transdisciplinary innovation network for smart materials. Within the network, he promotes collaboration between engineers, technicians, and designers. He focuses on the role of product design in the market launch of smart materials.
He initially studied electronics technology and precision engineering at the Technical University of Dresden, worked as a design engineer and designer at Pentacon camera factories, and completed a design degree before transitioning to research and teaching.
